Cooking, budgeting, using public transport and everyday independence skills — practical life skills for young people preparing for greater independence.
Cooking, budgeting, using public transport and everyday independence skills — practical life skills for young people preparing for greater independence.
Practical life skills can make a significant difference to a young person’s confidence and independence.
The programme runs in small groups so every young person gets attention, and sessions are practical from the first week — young people are doing something, not being taught at. Where a young person has specific goals set by a school, family or referring organisation, we build those into the plan and report back on them.
Basic cooking, meal planning and food shopping on a budget.
Budgeting, saving and everyday financial decisions.
Laundry, cleaning and keeping a living space organised.
Planning a day or week and managing time effectively.
Using public transport safely and confidently.
Handling everyday situations and taking personal responsibility.
An indicative structure. Content and pace are adjusted to the group.
